TARAMAY is a luxury Indian designer brand focusing exclusively on women’s footwear. The brand’s aesthetic is distinctive with a strong emphasis on design sensibility and use of material. The seasonal collections will reflect this, in addition to being in step with current trends. Discerning women in India will be able to wear stylish shoes that, while cued by international design, are beautifully made using high quality leather and fabric, and exquisite craftsmanship, all of which have been sourced in India.

The brand, while creating global design, has a definite Indian identity starting from the logo which is a contemporary rendering of the paisley – a favourite Indian motif. Future collections will make use of India’s rich textile and jewelery heritage, all the while working with them to create something new.

The Collection

Glamorous for both day and night, ballet flats have become a staple in every stylish woman’s wardrobe. Coming back season after season, theyNayantara_Sood are now a fashion classic. The first TARAMAY collection focuses exclusively on ballet flats with a ten-piece collection ranging from suede and patent leather to tweed and lace.

Growing up in different parts of the world has been a defining influence on Nayantara’s design aesthetic, be it in the design or materials used. Another element of her work is juxtaposition – the play of hard against soft, pretty against tough: romantic butter-soft pink leather is paired with sensual black lace and pearls, a glittering Eiffel Tower is placed against pearlized cream leather, and sophisticated quilting is trimmed with mischievous polka dots.

TARAMAY shoes are handmade with the highest quality leather and fabric, and include leather lining and soles.

The Designer

After studying footwear design at the London College of Fashion, Nayantara moved to Delhi in 2009 to start her own label. The first project was a collaboration with designer Ritu Kumar to create shoes for India Fashion Week. Another Collaboration with Arjun Saluja followed in October 2009. She has since been working on her debut collection which she launched now. The collection is available at Ensemble (Delhi and Mumbai) and White (Delhi), both of which are important fashion destinations known for carrying handpicked collections from India’s top designers.
